Photoshopping

MY GRADE:

Photoshopping.  Touching up.  I’m not sure what most people call it these days.    I guess it used to be “airbrushing” which gave it sort of an artistic flair .  But let’s say what it really is.  Plastic surgery for the uncommitted.  People mock Heidi Montag (well, most people. I’m still trying to figure out who she is exactly, and then I plan to mock her) for her endless facial and bodily touch-ups, but at least she has the courage of her convictions.
Oh the other hand…

Take a look at some of the posters from Sex And The City 2:

I can wholeheartedly state that these images are photoshopped — because not only don’t this four creatures look like the women from Sex And The City, they don’t look like human beings.  Take Sara Jessica Parker’s head.  (Not literally.  I don’t want any lawsuits)  What sort of human being has that shaped head?  To say it’s elongated is an understatement. I don’t think even the legendary Sea Biscuit has such a horsey-shaped skull.

Have the people who touched up these photos even crossed paths with an actual human being?

Why even use a photo in the first place?  Or for that matter, why use actors in the movie either?  Is there really any difference between the women in Sex And The City 2 and the women of Avatar?  One group of women are blue, the other aren’t.

Everyone loves a little glamor.  But photoshopping has now taken us past the point of glamor and into the realm of animation.   People complained (rightfully so) about the great attention spent by George Lucas on creating “realistic” looking Star Wars creatures at the disservice of story and character.  But at least it was science fiction.  Not everyone was supposed to look like humans.

On the other hand, a few more virtual nips and tucks and the Sex And The City girls are going to have more in common with the Bride of Frankenstein than the ladies from the original acclaimed television series.

Wait — George Lucas.  Star Wars.  I just realized where they found the template for Sara Jessica Parker’s Sex And The City 2 photo.

It’s Jar Jar!
